Main, you have proved my point man.......you take away from teams like the angels, actually the yankees even, the mariners, dodgers, cubs, teams that steal alot, teams that have speed and now power. Forcing them not NOT steal. We want to make it realistic correct? Well I dont think this would be the way.

I think the biggest thing should actually be what player it is. I see people steal indiscriminately with catchers etc... with the Chisox I don't even attempt it with the known plodders (and they have many ref. Thome, Konerko, Griffey, Dye, Fields, Uribe, A.J., even Q). I think the commishes just need to monitor for unrealistic sh*t that way... if I try a steal it's likely to be with Cabrera, Ramirez, Wise, Anderson... have used Swish before also-- checking his real-life stats just now -oops- I probably shouldn't be. Another plodder - geez.
If I played with the Twins both the existing bunt rule and a steal cap would be tough... they are full of little speedy guys. I like the idea of no first base lead other than default - that would help.
So I like the idea of: -Default lead only off of first -Have a cap of one attempt for people who don't steal bags in real life... maybe make people append to their pitching rotation with 'people who will steal' -- for 'fast' players no cap but again be reasonable - keep it to what you see in a TV game as per number of tries. -I'd treat bunt the same way rather than having a cap for all players actually... Carlos Gomez would be on the 'unlimited' bunt list... Nick Punto too.
My ChiSox 'steal' list: Cabrera Wise Anderson Ramirez
and 'bunt' list -empty-

good ideas, i just disagree with it and this is why.
1 that is 9 attempts allowed per game(if i am reading correctly) for guys that DONT steal bases/shouldnt steal bases.
2 it is another form of micromanaging/checking up on teams.
you can steal with speedy guys too easily with the normal 1 step lead that the cpu already takes, when we let them take the 2nd step there is almost no way to throw them out.
why not just allow the 1 step lead and that is it?

cause you get throw out, last night I was playing an online game with a friend to try the setting, I was the Rays, (fast team). Even in a NON pitchout situation, he was throwing out my runners 80% of the time. That is WAAAAAY to high, most catchers are in the 30%.

i'd need alot more information than one game. in my 40 something games (30 of those my opponent didnt allow any leadoff/quick pitching) i've stolen WAY WAY more bases than i've been caught.
in virtual, last 5 games i am 10-1 sb/cs and my team is SLOW.
in my one game in ps3 leauge, i am 2-0 sb/cs and there was NO lead given at all(quick pitching)

no they wont what? I have proven the facts. I PLAYED a game last night, thats all i tested with the rays runners, all the fast ones were still throw out...how is that realisitc? Guys like Reyes, Ichiro, Damon, Abrea, guys that steal bases, why should they be punished? They dont have "balls" to steal, they steal nearly every time they are on 1st with no body on 2nd.

no prob man, didnt think it was gonna be a big deal. just posting my 'facts' as well.
if i wanted to argue i'd say your facts are based on one game, and i've seen different results in many games.
the top 5 steal leaders are over 40/4..
just my opinions

Well I think we're close actually. I meant one attempt -total- for slow guys, not one each. Also, by default lead I mean the CPU lead. Agree that it is more micromanagement (which is not good), but there's going to be that kind of implication for most rule changes that could be made around this.
