This was a great game that came right down to the end.....
The game started off with the Saints getting the kickoff and moving the ball right down the field. Around the redzone, Henne dropped back and threw a pass over the middle and Tavares Gooden stepped in front and picked him off. The Ravens started a little drive of their own and used the ground game to grab the lead on a Johnathan Jones 2 yard run. The Saints would answer by driving the ball down the field and kicking a 44 yard field goal. The Ravens again relied on their ground game and Le'Ron McClain got himself a 2-yard td run. The Saints decided to go to the air on their next possession throwing it down the sideline to Findley who had Ladarius Webb on him and Dawan Landry over the top. Somehow the ball was batted and the savvy Findley hauled it in and went to the house for a 65-yard td pass. The Saints would get the ball back and drive down the field again. Like earlier, Tavares Gooden would intercept a pass from Henne and take it down to the Saints 19 yard line. The Ravens would add a field goal at the half to go up 17-10.
The Ravens got the ball at half but didnt get anything going and was forced to punt. The Saints capitalized on it and ended up getting a field goal. (17-13). The Ravens knew they needed a score on this drive or the momentum would really be on the Saints side. Joey "Wacco" Flacco decided to do some work and found Steve Smith on a slant route and he took it to the house for a 68-yard td pass. The next couple of drives stalled out for both teams. The Saints got the ball back and started marching right down the field. They were on the Ravens 45 yard line when the play of the game happened. Henne dropped back and looked for someone open. He couldnt find anybody so he started scrambling to the left. Brian Orakpo finally showed up and ended up getting a sack. Not only a sack but he caused a fumble that eventually would be grabbed by Haloti Ngata. With the newly found luck, the Ravens went back to the run game and got a field goal. The Saints would not give up though. They would answer back with a 51 yard td pass to Miles Austin. The Ravens got the ball back with a little over 3 minutes left in the game and tried to run out the clock. They had a 3rd and short at the 49 with 2 minutes left. They ended up getting the first and kneeling out the clock.
The Ravens win 27-20.
Players of the Game:
Tavares Gooden- 2 ints
Joey Keller- 15 attempts for 104 yards
Joe Flacco- 6-11 for 95 yards and a TD
The key to the game was turnovers. The Ravens knew they couldnt have any and luckily they didnt commit one.
Great game loc and cant wait to see you in Madden 11.
