I like the bonus season idea cause its summer and im moving back home and it would be hard to keep up, so i would like to quit after this season, but i don't want to jeopardize my veteran status in this league

Season 6 Traded Rookie Picks
- Dolphins 1st was sent to Raiders - Packers 1st was sent to Chargers - Titans 1st was sent to Jets - Chiefs 2nd was sent to Rams - Vikings 1st was sent to Patriots - Ravens 1st was sent to Patriots - Bills 2nd was sent to Chargers
Seasons 6 Traded Free Agent Picks - Vikings 1st was sent to Patriots -Bills 1st was sent to Chargers
thats allot of picks.
I was thinking tho for compensation, since we may only have like 20 members. We do the draft through the game, at least 12 teams are going to be the cpu autopicking for them. We allow compensation through these picks via letting the person who received a pick to choose a player that was auto drafted by these teams that aren't going to have actual owners this season (but with limitations). Like for the raiders who received the dolphins first pick, they can pick any rookie drafted by an UN-owned team (but this team must be within 10 picks of where the dolphins pick is) or maybe more, we can figure out the # once we know how many owners we'll have.
AND the teams that traded their picks, whomever the cpu drafts for them in their spot (they cannot pick, it won't help them so just dont do it) will either be picked up by somebody who received a 1st pick in a trade as per the idea I just named, or the player will go to one of those un-owned teams who got a player taken away by somebody as their compensated first pick.
this could work quite well.
to solve FA problem, we compensate them with the "pickup a player drafted from an un-owned team" the same way we did for the traded rookie picks. But we make those picks "positions" a pretened #33 & 34 in the rookie draft; meaning they can only pick from players drafted by un-owned teams that picked at the #23-24 spot or worse.
hope I'm explaining this good, its actually a really simple system thats hard to explain that could work real well for compensation (the range is what we'd have to decide, and we can do that once we know how many owners we'll have)

I think its clear already based on almost everyones opinion if people want to quit after this season their spot will still be secured for Madden 11

Main I like your ideas abut the compensation for the traded picks, makes sense. We could have a draft after the draft for the teams with that received the traded picks. They could take whatever rookie they want from the CPU teams and the teams that lost their first round pick. I believe the Pats by rights should have the first pick with this based on the pick they received (Vikings). Im not sure of records involved of all the teams but I believe Vikings had the worst record of the teams that traded there picks.
Just following that formula would allow us to grade 1st's first, then second rounders rookies and lastly the FA picks....
So all in all it would be a 9 pick draft (based on the traded picks) which would take little time to compensate those who recieved picks....Just a thought but may streamline things and make owners that received extra picks happy as well.

I don't understand the "teams that traded away their rookie picks, don't make a pick thing".... for example, why wouldn't I just tell Vikings to take the player I want to draft with the pick that he traded to me?
Then we would only need to compensate for the FA picks... and that should be easy enough to figure something out.

because first off you can't know for sure that that owner will be there, and im almost positive setting up your list thing doesn't work, so if he can't be there than your screwed already. secondly, why should you be allowed that option when all the other players who also need to be compensated picks may not have that option, you get an advantage over them but in all rights maybe if the draft was done properly they coulda got that guy.
so thats just a couple reasons

Lets just run a fantasy team draft with random generated teams. The idea me and Spyder had before. No trades, no FA, no need for a rookie draft.
League advances on Wednesdays and Sundays at 11pm unless all games are played. Play CPU if no owner, if the game is not played there will be a straight sim.
Continuing the actual league without owners just isn't the answer. It wouldn't be the same at all.
This way those who want to play can continue to play for a title, play in a league and have fun on this website.
Just an idea...

no thanks, first off if there was a fantasy league i wouldnt be interested in doing it the way you guys talked about anyways. secondly, theres allot of good reasoning to playing out another season, the people staying aren't staying because they love madden 10 and just want to keep playing (which would imply, yeah lets consider a fantasy league), their staying because of their franchise

If a team that traded its pick away is a now show... the team with their pick can announce who they want and all other owner controlled teams will have to stay away from that player until a CPU team picks that player and then we can switch the player to the correct roster after the draft...
