The 2 time NFC West Champion St Louis Rams find themselves in the middle of a somewhat difficult season... Through the first 8 games the Rams are a mediocre 4-4...
It seems as if the Rams have fallen from the top teir of teams in the NFC as they only have 1 significant win this year vs the Carolina Panthers. 2 losses to the up and coming Arizona Cardinals and a 2 point loss to another NFC West rival 49ers...
The problem seems to be simply that the rest of the league has adjusted to the Rams unique offense. Throughout the first 2 seasons of the VNFL several defensive coordinators made comments about the unique play-calling style of the Rams OC. However, this season it is clear that the rest of the league is ready for the against the grain play-calling style...
Also with the Additions of Eddie Royal on offense, DeMarcus Ware and Jay Ratliff on Defense, i think it is just a matter of time until the Rams start to put things together.
The OC is still predicting the re-birth of the greatest show on turf, and he says "i've got a new scheme ready for these next 8 games"
The offensive talent is in place, now, Only time will tell if the Greatest Show on Turf can in fact be reborn...
First half Bright spots...
Steven Jackson is still the best offensive weapon for the Rams... Although he is not amongst the League leaders in yards, he is still on pace for a 1,400 14td season...
2nd Year QB Dane Morrow is still learning the complicated Rams offense... At times he is brilliant, other times he seems to be lost... However, the future is very bright for this kid... Some compare his arm strength to that of the great Dan Marino...
Before the Season the Rams made a deal to bring in another speed WR named Eddie Royal...
Royal has proven to be a beast, although is number don't really show how valuable he has been, 22rec 373yds 2td, he really helps stretch the field and make room for Jackson...
As always, Donnie Avery has been the Rams most productive player, 24rec 408yds 4td, 32kr 1,181yd 2td 36.9avg... His explosives is unmatched and he always puts the Rams in great field posistion...
Defensively the Addition of DeMarcus Ware, and Jay Ratliff has really helped shut down the run game of opponents, and get pressure on the QB...
The lack of play makers in the secondary is glaring, and the Rams are going to need some young guys play big very soon...
..............................................
All in all the Rams are not satisfied with being 4-4, this team is hungry and they really believe they have the talent to go deep into the playoffs...
