After 8 games the 49er's sit at 6-2 holding the tie-breaker over the Cardinals right now. The Niners have been led by a strong Defense and a balanced attack on offense. Nate Davis has done a good job managing the game and limiting costly TO's. He has totaled up 1819 yds in the air and threw for 8 tds as well. He has a 56.7% completion rate which Singletary says were happy were Nate has progressed to.
Speaking of passing game hows third year Michael Crabtree doing? Well Crabtree has been Nate Davis's # 1 target this year with 37 receptions and 625 yds and 5 TD's. I am comfortable with the offense now and im just trying to help my team win games. Crabtree has made big play after big play this year and Nate knows who to throw to when he is in trouble.
Frank Gore has handled the duties on the ground and looks to be closing in on another 1,000 yd rushing season. Gore has mustard up 656 yds and 6 TD thus far with 8 games remaining. Coach Singletary was asked about this mile stone and said we are not here for individual awards and im not concerned one bit about them. Back up Tymichael Reed will be more involved the second half of the season. We want to keep our players healthy and ready for a playoff push, so Gore might not see the same carries he did in the first half of the season.
How is the defense doing this year? Well Led by the best LB in the game Pat Willis I would have to say not bad. The Niners have forced 19 sacks this year along with 12 int's. Willis leads the club with 28 tackles and which 8 of those are for a loss. Willis lives in the backfield and has amazing instincts for the game.
The Niners are 3 games in to their tough 4 game stretch and have came out 2-1 so far with a tough game at home against the Steelers. The Niners still have to face divison rivals Rams and Cardinals once more this season as well. They know the road is going to be tough and they are taking it game by game.
