Quaterback
B- Despite Chad Henne's 14 ints this year, the Eagles have needed at times for Henne to carry the Offense. Henne has a 71% completion percentage this season and thrown for 1950 yards. He has been very efficent outside of throwing it to the other team. Henne has battled through some injuries this year with lower back problems, dislocating a shoulder and a badly bruised forearm. Eagles need to focus more on keeping him healthy, without disrupting the offense.
Running Backs
C With the trade of Jonathan Stewart, Brian Westbrook will have to be the rock down the stretch. Bwest is averaging 4.4 yards per attempt on the season and hasnt shown the big play ability we once knew. Westbrook has 551 total yards on the season and only 3 td's, the Eagles will have to find a way to get more production out of him in the second half of the season. He claims he is healthy and fresh we will see...
Wide Recievers
C+ Jeremy Maclin has been the go to guy this season for the Eagles with 39 receptions and 665 yards. He also has found the endzone 7 times and seems really to becoming the Eagles star.
Desean Jackson at times has struggled to stay on field this season and his body has broken down more this year. His production is showing too, Jackson coming off a huge year last season in which he had 1400 yards receiving and 11 td's has only had 300 yards receiving this year. Jackson needs to be more involved as well and hasnt seemed to be on the same page at times with the rest of the offense when he has been on the field.
Outside of the Eagles top 2 wr's there hasnt been anything to talk about, Rookie Deshaun Tull has showed flashes but way to incosistent at this point to be taken as serious option.
OLINE
C+ The oline could be at a transitional point, the Right tackle position has been victimized by edge rushers for most of the season and the backs have had a difficult time getting to second level of defense's in the running game.
DLINE
B With the recent additon of Albert Haynesworth the Eagles front office feels the strength of this team will be the front seven. Trent Cole and Victor Abimari have combined for 5 sacks so far and have done a solid job allowing the LB's to make some plays. Trent Cole has not yet found his groove in the sack department this season and needs to get involved there some more in the second half of the season
Linebackers
B+ Alonzi Simms and Brian Cushing are really starting to emerge, between the two they have totaled 4 sacks and 5 ints. Statistically they have been good but what they are doing for the team defense has been impressive. Akeem Jordan has been solid but there are only some plays to go around. Stewart Bradley has minimized running lanes up the gut an been the stabilizing force of the unit, he also has 2 ints. Between the 4 primary LB's they have recorded 8 interceptions.
Secondary
B+ The secondary is starting to gel, as Asante Samuel is getting his mojo back with 3 ints in last 3 games. SS Michael Mitchell has been even better this year with 6 ints and inforcing the outside running lanes with punishment. FS Quinton Demps has been solid along with Ellis Hobbs, Rakeem Jordan in providing solid coverage when needed.
Second Half outlook
The Birds have battled incosistency on offense all year, mainly due to turnovers and sacks. Some games the offense has been lights out and others have been lackluster at best. The defense has been stellar and really has allowed the offense to be a little loose at times. The Eagles remaining schedule is down right wicked.
week 10 Giants (home) huge rivalry and first place on the line, need I say more
week 11 Rams (away) rams have been to the playoffs every year of VNFL and this will be a huge test against a great player and owner
week 12 Cowboys (away) already lost once this season to the boys and now a huge division rival
week 13 Bills (away) Nikov's bills are hot again and factoring in the AFC beast (first real meeting)
week 14 Patriots (away) Joe has been dominant and very scary on offense, all this following up on last year's Superbowl victory (first meeting)
week 15 Jets (home) VNFL season 1 champ is battle tested and AFC east approved. (first meeting)
week 16 Giants (away) This game could just be the game for the NFC east
week 17 Bears (away) talk about a stretch of games, If the Eagles can make the playoffs after this stretch they should be ready. O btw Jay Cutler has been sick with his 22 TD's and ONLY 3 ints this season.
For the Eagles to make a third consecutive playoff appearance they will have to earn it and get some luck on their side.....
