We got to sit down with one of the most feared players of the games history, Coach Mike Singletary of the San Francisco 49er's. We got an inside look of how he approaches each game and how he mentors and coaches up his young guys developing them into men. Coach Singletary brought his team in the day after Christmas to have a meeting about the upcoming schedule. The Niners are now at the heart of their schedule and will face the toughest opponents thus far this season. Its starts at Home in Week 7 vs Division Rival Seattle Seahawks.
Week 7 Seattle @ San Fransico
The Seahawks have a very potent offense Singletary said us and we must get to the young QB early and often. Its always going to be a tough game going up against a team with a high powered passing attack and Division Rival." San Francisco forced 3 turnovers in week two at Seattle all of which were all interceptions. Singletary said this is the type of game we need to have again.
Week 8 San Francisco @ Philadelphia
The Niners will then travel cross country to square off with the very talented Philadelphia Eagles. The Niners will have to slow down the air game once again this week as well. Singletary also told us that watching this team on film is scary. They have players that if they get one ounce of day light can take it to the house. We can not make this a track meet we can not win that style of game. We asked him what his keys to this game was and how are they going to prepare for the speedy guys from Philly. Mike said "Well I have a good nucleus here on my defense, we plan to hit and hit hard, wrap up, and all 11 caps to the ball every play. We are going to make them earn their keep. Chad Henne has turned the ball over 9 times this year already so we will try to force his hand in that area as well. It will be a war in city of brotherly love come week 8."
Week 9 San Francisco @ St. Louis
Another tough Division Rival game in week 9. The Niners will go in to the Edwards Jones Dome home of the Rams and will battle once again. The Niners will have to keep tabs on the speedy wide out from Houston Donnie Avery. He makes t happen on offense and the special teams side. When asked about Avery Singletary's eyes were wide open. " I mean this kid is a ball player simple enough. He has olympic speed and we will have to tackle him and not give him an openining enough said." He also commented on Mr. Reliable Stephen Jackson. "This guy is a monster in a mans body. We will have to chop him down and keep him contained as well. If we do not slow down the Run game, we will not shut down the air game either."
Week 10 Pittsburgh @ San Francisco
The 49ers will once again be tested here in this matchup. Philip Rivers brings his team to the Bay and they have the total package by the way in case you were wondering. Coach Singletary was most fired up over this game just because he loves a good smash mouth defense and Pittsburgh has exactly that. " I am trying to get my guys to buy in to this style of defense, the style that we had in Chicago in 85. We are almost there, I am just excited to head off against the Steelers. If I could lace them up one more time this would be the team I would love to do it against. We are just going to have to play sound football here. Nothing fancy, smash mouth football. This will be a battle of the ages that were are excited for but will first have to take care of the first 3 games prior. We will not loose focus of that but there is a little asterisk on my calender next to this week." As he let out his first smile of the interview.
The Niners have a tough next 4 weeks and will determine their future for this season. They are a very talented team with a pretty good defense so it will definitely be interesting dont you worry. Im sure the sports world is just as anxious as we are to see the fait the Niners will end up with.
