just wanted to congradulate our superbowl champion boerny and the New York Jets on a great season. And great work morbid (Carolina) on winning the NFC and playing in one hell of a superbowl
Panthers 28 - Jets 31
Panthers Jake Delhomme - 102.1 Rating, 25/40, 400 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Jonathan Stewart - 5 ATT, 13 Yards
Steve Smith - 8 REC, 150 Yards, 1 TD DeAngelo Williams - 4 REC, 142 Yards Gary Barnidge - 4 REC, 33 Yards
Jets Mark Sanchez - 150.8 Rating, 14/20, 244 Yards, 3 TD
Leon Washington - 17 ATT, 104 Yards, 6.1 AVG
Jericho Cotchery - 3 REC, 38 Yards Leon Washington - 2 REC, 17 Yards, 1 TD Dustin Keller - 2 REC, 79 Yards, 1 TD
Player of the Game: Mark Sanchez[/color]
With New York winning 31-28, the Panther's defense stopped the Jets to get the ball back with 1:35 remaining in the game and no time outs. Jake Delhomme moved the ball down the field and completed a 4th and 4 pass for a first down to Terrence Copper which put them in field goal range.
With no time outs remaining, Jake called the offense back to the line to spike the ball and send the special teams unit out for the game-tying field goal. Jake snapped the ball, spiked it, but the clock hit triple zeroes right as the ball hit the ground.
The Carolina Panther's Cinderella story is over by a tenth of a second. They now look towards the off-season to add some crucial pieces for another Super Bowl run.
Great game, Boerny. You're a very tough, classy player. I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope to meet you again in next season's Super Bowl.
