We sat down with owner Jed York to discuss his team so far this season after a disappointing loss to the Rams in week 4.
Q) Jed, obviously a 1-3 start isn't exactly how you wanted to start the season but how do you feel about your teams performance so far?
A) Well, like you said, 1-3 isn't how we wanted to start this season. But i see a lot of promise in some of these young players that gets me excited for the rest of the season.
Q) What players jump out to you so far?
A) Obviously Patrick (Willis) is a guy everyone is talking about on defense. We think he is going to do big things for us in the future and we're already seeing that now. But for me, Nate Davis is the guy. This kid has all the things you want in a QB. Strong arm, very accurate, great decision making, & he just commands the attention of our guys on offense. He is a born leader and reminds me a little of a left handed guy we had that won us a lot of games in the past.
Q) Thats a big statement comparing this kid (Nate Davis) to a hall of famer, Steve Young.
A) It is, but i see a lot of Steve in this kid.
Q) What about the success of Holdout (Crabtree), Morgan, & Davis so far this season?
A) What can you say about these three guys except they just go out there and make plays for us. Having Morgan back just makes this passing game even more dangerous. Not to mention we have a pretty good guy there in the backfield. 2 to 3 years down the road we could be talking about another Montana, Clark, Rice, & Taylor. There all that good.
Q) Has Mike (Singletary) impressed you even though he has gone 1-3 so far this season?
A) Mike brings a focus and intensity to this team that no one could duplicate. I think he's doing everything right so far, the ball just hasn't bounced our way yet. God help the team when it does! (Laughs)
Q) Jed thanks for sitting down with me and good luck on the rest of the season.
A) No problem, thanks for having me.
