Everyday from now until August 10th, I will be posting a division by division preview of VNFL 2011 Season 1. I was thinking of posting all of the AFC at once, then all of the NFC at once, but it got to be too long and it would be really annoying to read everything in one sitting.
Plus I think it's cooler to preview a new division over the next 8 days then cap it off with a a playoffs / Superbowl prediction. By the time the previews are done, it will be August 10th, just in time for Madden NFL 11!!!
NOTE: This is supposed to be for fun and I'm in no way trying to offend anyone. Of course this is my view of the upcoming season, but feel free to voice your opinions as well to make this a fun discussion.

--AFC EAST PREVIEW--
2010 Recap
The AFC East (better known as the AFC BEAST) was arguably the best division in VNFL 2010. The division won three of the first four VNFL SuperBowls with the Jets (Boerny), Patriots (JoeSchroeduh) and Bills (Niko) each taking home the Vince Lombardi trophy in seasons 1, 2, and 4, respectively. The Dolphins (xCRUFFx) usually suffered from playing in the toughest VNFL division and remained the odd team out, but was consistently in the thick of the playoff race, making the playoffs twice in 5 seasons. The division sent 3 teams to the playoffs in three out of six VNFL seasons and represented the AFC in four of six SuperBowl games. This year’s version fields a significant change as three of four owners migrated to the NFC.
2011 Preview
The Jets are considered to be the favorite to win the AFC East, if not the AFC Conference. The Jets are loaded with talent and should continue to improve under Coach Boerny who remains with the club and is considered to be one of the best coaches in the game. The Jets field one of the best defenses in the game and have an improved and explosive offense that can put up points and big numbers, especially with the addition of RB Tomlinson, and WR Holmes. Without a doubt, the Jets are the team to beat in the AFC East.
The Patriots which use to be the juggernauts of the AFC East is now relegated to 2nd fiddle and pose as the main threat versus the Jets. The Pats should be able to keep up offensively with weapons like QB Brady, WR Moss, WR Welker, however, there are some concerns over the defense which is young and is not as stout as in previous years. They do have enough talent (LB Mayo, DT Wilfork, S Meriweather) to win some games. It will be interesting to see how the Patriots respond to Coach germeh after having a lot of success under the previous coaching regime. Coach germeh experienced some success in Green Bay, but was consistently critized by GB ownership because of his inability to remain consistently competitive season after season.
The Bills have the least talented roster among the four teams, and have a coach that is unknown to the league. It remains to be seen whether qpeezy will be able to compete vs. the Jets juggernaut. The biggest question mark for the Bills is who would start at QB. At this point in their careers, QBs Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Brian Brohm has not shown that they can be franchise QBs. It would be interesting to see how Coach qpeezy approaches his QB dilemma.
Coach cpiroli struggled in his stint with the Colts, often finishing at the bottom of the league despite having one of the most talented teams in the VNFL. A fresh start in Miami should help cpiroli put the past behind him, but only time will tell whether he can motivate his players enough to be competitive. The addition of WR Marshall, and MLB Dansby has improved the talent level, but question marks at wide receiver, defensive line and safety, along with cpiroli’s inability to produce a winner in Indy last year points to the Dolphins struggling in VNFL 2011.
In the end, this is the Jet's division to lose. Germeh or qpeezy need to step up and show they can consistently complete to make sure the Jets don't run away with the division each season. Who knows, cipiroli might turn out to be a wild card and be much more competitive having control of his beloved Miami Dolphins.
Win/Loss Predictions:
Jets: 12-4 (division winner)
Patriots: 8-8
Bills: 7-9
Dolphins: 3-13
Next: AFC West (August 2nd)
